For retracting the lead sleeve of mechanical pencils, stand the pencil with the tip pointing downwards on a surface.

Press the push-button and, at the same time, push the barrel downwards towards the surface, exerting a slight pressure while you do so.

Please avoid applying too much pressure as this may cause damage to the lead sleeve.
