Patchpanels are one of the basic elements used for structural cabling. It is installed in 19" racks. The screws used for assembly are the same as for active devices. The task of the patchpanel is to terminate the cables coming down to the distribution cabinet.

The RJ45 cat 6 UTP patchpanel ports connect to the active device using patchcords of appropriate category and design to maintain the appropriate connection standard. The unique feature is the height of the patchpanel in the rack - it is only 0.5U, i.e. two such patchpanels can be mounted in one mounting unit and thus have 48 ports in 1U. The cable is connected to the patchpanel using a punch down tool.
